Small Business Idea To Help Pets

Small Business Idea To Help Pets

Jean Hoffman is a serial entrepreneur who worked on international manufacturing deals, complex data systems and pharmaceutical industry operations. Now she is pursuing a different kind of small business idea that was inspired by her cat Dude. At the age of 10, Dude was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which is common in older cats.

It required taking an expensive prescription for the rest of his life, which Hoffman gladly payed for, but she was struck by the fact that not everyone could afford it. She drew on her pharma industry experience to investigate the market for pet medications, specifically generic medications, and found that there were very few. So she launched Putney in 2006 with a mission to provide lower cost pharmaceutical options for pet owners and beef flavored drugs for dogs and cats.
