25 Websites to Watch
Filed in archive Technology by Deborah Brown on June 24, 2007

to watch. Embedded in the article were the 25 worst websites.Like a "rubber-necker" checking out the details of a car accident in hopes of seeing a dead body - I clicked through to the crap before reading about the great.
Many of the 25 worst websites are no longer in business like Webvan and MyLackey or shouldn't be like Rentmychest.com. The number one worst website was a surprise:
MySpace.
Yep, the most popular site going was also listed as the worst - according to the article authors. Interestingly enough it was because of functionality, maneuverability and a general sense of chaos that it received the honors of being the worst. And it's true - I know when I visit my son's site there seems to be so much going on, it's hard to find what you are looking for: evidence that he's doing something he shouldn't.
Now on to the sites to watch.
I was disappointed. The article 25 Websites to Watch is broken down into a few categories:
1. Mashups, Maps and More
2. Organizers, Searchers and Optimizers.
3. Real Estate, Bookmarks and Blogs
4. Ways to Create and Share
5. Collaborative Work and Play
They were all tools - new web gadgets. I was hoping for COMPANIES (I guess I would define companies as brick and mortar) that you might want to watch for growth - like on the stock exchange.
And they all have such bizarre made up names.
I guess I'm showing my age - but my brain is having a hard time keeping up with all the webtech changes in the last 12 months to grasp any more.
What do you think? Are all these tools of the web ones to watch - when you see an article entitled 25 website to watch - are you thinking businesses or widgets?
