6 Tips to a Better Blog Post

scott Ginsberg, The Name Tag Guy, nails it on the head with his recent post on the Anatomy of a Blog. He offers up his personal steps to creating a great blog post – some of which I have tried to do:
1. Catchy title
2. Attaching an image/photo
3. Body copy that is compelling and includes links – by the way I love his name for linking to friends "Link Love"
4. A Call to action – I try to remember to add a question at the end, but he's right – in order to engage the reader you need to ask them a question – it requires them to answer and hopefully they'll do that in the form of a comment, thus creating a dialogue.
5. This is a big one and something I haven't done until now – a signature.
It seems to me that Chris Brown over at Brand and Marketing mentioned this not long ago. You know how it is, sometimes you have to see/hear something multiple times before it sinks in.
You have to let people know who you are, what you do and how to reach you – not a honkin' big commercial, just a simple, memorable signature line. So check mine out – what do you think?
6. The viral stuff – I need to read up more on this. I do have the key words but need to work on the other stuff. What method do you use to get the word out about your posts?
Check out Scott's post with the complete details behind each of his steps. Hello My Name Is.

Hi Deborah:
Thanks for the Link Love.
I actually was referring to Dawud Miracle’s post on March 14, 2007 at http://www.dmiracle.com about leaving a signature on your comments. He was talking with Mike Sansone at http://www.converstations.com and they said that signing your comments makes people know you better “Oh, that Chris Brown as well as help give them a frame of reference to your response. It’s like branding. Easier to know what you’re getting because you have some familiarity.
Thanks,
Chris Brown
