A Simple and Effective Way to Kill Customer Loyalty
Filed in archive Marketing by Jim Logan on June 27, 2006

Here's all you need to do.
Just make an offer. Better, make an outrageously large offer. Then wrap the offer with a caveat. Something like limiting the hours the offer is good, put barriers around the decision to purchase, ask for obscene terms, etc. Just make it nearly impossible to accept your offer. Above all, take every bit of your risk out of the deal you possibly can.
There you go!
You've just killed customer loyalty and build a reputation as a sleazy business. All of this in one simple step. It's easy!
What do you think about caveats wrapped around offers and guarantees? They suck, right? And they make the company using them look cheap and untrustworthy. Agree or disagree?
