Absentee Presentations

Imagine if you could give an entire sales presentation and not even be in the room. Think about your initial sales schpiel: a power point presentation with a little narrative for each slide, right?

Oh gosh, MANY years ago I briefly held a job in North Carolina selling smoke alarm systems. Egads, just typing those words brings the experience back and it WASN'T PRETTY.

But the sales presentation consisted of a notebook with colored pictures (gosh, were computers not even invented yet?) and you would show a picture and give a speech. My most memorable moment was in a small house where the dominating decor item was a HUGE coal furnace in the middle of the living that provided the heat for the whole house. Now, let me ask you, were they good candidates for my smoke alarm system?

Anyway, in sales you need to qualify your customers and now there is a great way to provide the initial sales pitch to prospects without you even being there. In fact, this new tool enables you to spread your message worldwide without ever leaving your home office.

Mike Sansone at Converstations talks about it on his blog today: Slideshare

Slideshare is a simple to use method of combining your power point slides with a synced up MP3 file of your sales presentation. Imagine – put a mini-qualifying presentation on your website and people can immediately have a clearer understanding of your business, services and products.

But that's just one example of a way to use this cool tool. Think holiday time. Combine your family pictures with a narrative and send to friends and family who aren't able to attend.

Introduce new products or services in a short presentation. If your company periodically has webinars which are one-way lectures – this might be a great way of conducting them and now they are stored for future reference.

Oh – could they even take the place of policy and procedure manuals? The ideas are limitless.

Thanks, Mike for bringing this new tool to our attention.
