Believe It Or Not, Now Is The Time To Make Plans For The Holidays

The weather is good and the days are still long. Believe it or not, it's time to start your holiday business plans. In particular, I'm thinking about customer gifts, cards, and other forms of appreciation. It's near time to place your orders and start rolling-out the holiday cheer.

Here's my three item list of holiday business cheer.

Greeting cards to all customers – handwritten whenever possible, personal, no sales pitches, simple thanks for being a customer
Gifts for major accounts – simple gift baskets for those customers that mean the most to your business
Party for staff – little things go a long way, nothing elaborate is required

The point of this post is to get going, the holiday season is only 60 days away. Make plans early to reduce costs and have time to execute. And lastly, don't forget your holiday promotions.

Summer is over. The New Year is one business quarter away.

Very true, greeting cards are vert important. Nothing says that you care more than if you send out a greeting to your favorite customer or even all of your customers at this special time of year. Also, if you are going to send out greeting cards, you have to follow the number one rule of card etiquette: use personal handwriting. Doing so demonstrates your genuine care for your customer, based on the time it took you to write that note out by hand.

You give business gifts for specific business reasons: to thank a customer for their past business; to cement the relationship; and to encourage their continued business. You want to select and deliver gifts that leave your clients delighted.
