One of my fav blogs to read is duct tape Marketing by John Jantsch. I have mentioned his posts often on this site. This week I read that John has a new book that will hit the streets in January Duct Tape Marketing – The World's Most Practical Small Business Marketing Guide.- INC Magazine has reviewed and gives it two thumbs up!
Yesterday I spoke at Portage Lakes Career Center's Brown Bag Luncheon. The topic was Blogs for Business and I was surprised by the audience's lack of blog knowledge. They thought blogs were anything from a mess you needed to clean up to an instant message.
Part of any speech on brand presence on the web always includes references to my fav blogs: Hello My Name is Scott, Publicity Hound just to name a few. I excitedly shared that John has a new book coming out and that he has been touted as the number one blog to read for marketing insights.
At the end of the hour they were excited about blogging and many talked about going right home and giving it a try.
Imagine my surprise this morning when I received an email from John. I must admit, my heart beat a little faster. Someone I admire was writing to me!
In his email, he shared the fact that his publisher questions the power of blogging.
YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING!
John, your publisher just needs to speak to a handful of teens and twenty-somethings- the business men and women of the future – to know that blogs are the future and if we don't jump on the band wagon and embrace this valuable communication vehicle, we'll be left in the dust.
