Elevator Speech – How is Yours?
I spent all day last Thursday surrounded by hundreds of small business owners at the COSE Small Business Conference. COSE is the nations second largest Chamber of Commerce in the US and is made up of over 15,000 small businesses.
I was there capturing 5 minute audio interviews with 30+ of these small businesses for use on our Internet radio program Small Business Trends Radio.
I asked 4-5 simple questions, the first of which was "tell me about your business?" and the second was "why are you better than your competition?"
I was amazed at how few of these small business owners could provide a coherent and compelling answer to these two questions, it was like they had never been asked or had to answer such a question. If they can't answer those two questions then how viable is there business really.
