Two people in my life remembered and commented.
One person asked:
How did it go?
I replied "well."
He responded "that's nice."
The other person asked:
"TELL ME how did it go?"
And so I did.
He replied with a series of accolades that used SPECIFIC praises of what I did right, how well I planned, how proud I should be and most important how proud he was of my accomplishments.
The difference?
I'm glowing like Rudolph's nose from the compliments that were specific and detail oriented.
Why?
His attention to the details of my performance told me he cared about me and my work enough to listen closely and respond with detailed comments.
Want your staff to glow with their efforts? Use specific details to compliment their work. "Nice job." isn't enough.
"I like how you did x,y,z. Your efforts, research and passion for the project really showed through in the end result."
Try it - you'll be pleased with the results.

Praise is good. Specific Praise is better. Giving detailed comments tell people you care enough...
