Google’s Caffeine Worries the Business World

Google is going hyper – and businesses are worried about it, according to BusinessWeek.

Google is rolling out new "under-the-hood" search technology, codenamed "Caffeine," that could change how your company ranks in its search results. For those businesses that live-and-die based on Google-generated traffic, this is potentially a very big deal.

The story has been out there for a couple of days in the more geek-oriented suburbs of the blogosphere, but the business implications didn't dawn on me right away. Then I saw the BusinessWeek article. David Coursey of PC World looks at the possible shake up as a result of Google's new technology that may be comign to the world of web design and SEO. It's unclear just how much of a different the new Google would make in search results.

For years we’ve been selling our best seller product, The Managing a Small Business CD-ROM (MSB) for $49.97 at our bizmove.com site (see our sales letter here). MSB contains hundreds of guides, worksheets and checklists which make it the most comprehensive small business management resource available to date.

Now we decided to test our present paid model Vs. a free, ads supported model (this should be interesting).

As part of this marketing test we uploaded the whole content of the MSB CD-ROM to our bizmove.com site thus making it available for free to the visitors of our site. In addition, we constructed a new interface, which mimics the interface of the CD-ROM (see it here: http://www.bizmove.com/small-business-management/). The new interface makes it easier for visitors to browse thru the vast amount of information and pinpoint on the exact topic that they need.

I’d appreciate it if you let your readers know about the new free resource; I think they’ll appreciate the tip.

    Thanks in advance

It would be nice to know the ins and outs of codenamed “Caffeine,” “The new algorithms are designed to ensure new and fresh content (in terms of time-sensitive news and articles) appear at the top of search engines meaning it will soon become even more important that websites keep their content up-to-date where appropriate”. Google seem to make it easy if you just type in what you require. This “new idea” has been with us for a long time it just means that they are tightening up the algorithms that index the sites which most companies want.

I like the Google Caffeine results, my client sites look as if they will rank better (if only by a few places) on Google Caffeine.
