Is There Such a Thing as Too Successful?

Oprah announced today that she now has her own channel on YouTube.
Oprah Winfrey has a talk show, a magazine, a website and now a channel on the online video site YouTube. Harpo Productions and YouTube said the channel will offer exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage from The Oprah Winfrey Show, which is taped in Chicago.
In a video posted on the site, Winfrey says she's excited to have her own YouTube channel and that it will include videos she creates herself.
On pretty much every list developed; most influential, richest, most successful, most who you want to be in life...Oprah's name appears.
She's crossed over from the entertainment field to politics, participating in a presidential debate four years ago, and now actively supporting one candidate for our next president over another. On a recent edition of the View, the ladies of the rectangular table wondered if she should have so much influence over the American voting public as to potentially impact the presidential voting results.
That's some pretty significant success to think that one person could impact the voting decision of a population.
She has overcome adversity and hardship to thrive and is the perfect example of reaching back to pull others forward. She openly shares - time, money, experience, resources. She is a wonderful example of giving back to the community and started a growing movement of reading through the Oprah book selections and book discussions.
She supports theatre and poetry, health awareness and strives to strike abuse and harassment and ignorance from the lives of women everywhere. She has opened doors for girls of Africa and changed their futures forever.
She is the perfect human.
So I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I'm not really a very big fan.
Oh, I used to be and don't get me wrong, I think what she does and has done and what she stands for is terrific. There isn't anything I can point to that I would say "oooh, nope, don't agree with that."
And maybe I'm jealous of her success, although great financial success and worldwide fame are not goals that I strive for.
I don't know what it is. I can't put my finger on it. Except to say - wow - is there anything in life that doesn't have her stamp on it? And now a You Tube channel. And I know that isn't really that big of a deal but it reminds me of the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" in which Jimmy Stewart's character believes that his family would be better off had he never been born. And with the help of angel Clarence, sees life as it would be without his touch. Jimmy travels through Pottersville where there is a Potter bank and Potter theatre and Potter bar and grill and Potter housing development.
I guess I just wonder if anyone should be that successful.
I can't imagine the pressure she is under or what it feels like to live under a microscope and be dissected and analyzed by the likes of me.
But as I start and end each day trying to do my part for my family, my church, my community and my business, it almost seems as if my efforts are insignificant and unworthy compared to the grandness of Oprah. We are each one person and yet her "one" seems so much bigger.
However, I know that my efforts, although small in comparison, touch those close to me and hopefully set the example for my children to carry on in a mindset of doing for others. Each small effort touches the small effort of the person next to me and like a line of dominos can have far reaching results.
Like the super hero with super powers, I'm grateful that Oprah uses her super human powers for good, but I do have to ask: is there such a thing as being TOO successful?
