Marketing Messages – Is It All Spam?

spam, we all hate it. In fact a whole industry has been created around preventing it, blocking it and managing it. There have even been laws passed to try and control it.
What about the other 10,000+ marketing messages we are bombarded with everyday, billboards, magazine ads, radio, TV, websites, blogs, podcasts, it is un-escapable.
Why don't we put in the same energy to ward off all these other intrusions into our cranium? Is it because we have experienced some of them longer?
What do you think?

It seems the reason we don’t is because we have no control over the “spam” we receive in the physical world.
Of course with web sites and online spam, we can use tools to block at least some of that.
We can also not look in the physical world, whereas with our email, we must go through most of it to find what we want, forcing us to see and look at junk we don’t want.
