Personal Networking Checklist

Do you have a clear idea of what you need from a network?
Have you analyzed what you have to offer other members of a network?
Do your colleagues contact you frequently for advice or support?
Do you make an effort to get together with colleagues on an informal but regular basis?
Do you volunteer to sit on task-forces, committees or boards in order to make new connections?
Do you periodically attend professional conferences and make contacts with other key people in your industry? In other industries?
Are you an active member of at least one professional association
?Do you regularly attend your company social events?
If you answered yes to most of these questions you are well on your way to being networked. If you answered no, ask yourself why? Are you new to networking, unsure what steps to do or how to get started?
There are many, many books on how to network successfully but I have found the key is just to get started and practice, practice, practice.
