Styles Change Soul Doesn't
In just saw the new Rolex ad in Fortune Magazine featuring Eric Clapton and the caption reads "Styles Change, Soul Doesn't."

Think of the musicians who have stood the test of time. What does Eric Clapton have that the Turtles didn't?

Talent?

Ooh, that was mean.

No, he has adapted his style to the times. Think of those who have been in business for a long time - are they still providing the same exact product and service they did 30, 40, 50 years ago?

The question then is this: how has your business changed over the last 2, 3, 5 years? Think of the impact the Internet has had on businesses in just the last three years. Has there been a dramatic change in your customer's desires? Have you adapted your style to fit their needs?

But like the Rolex ad states: "...while Clapton always explores new genres and textures in his songs, the passion he puts into each note remains constant, making him as compelling today as the first time he took the stage."

Passion.

I'm reminded of Jack Welch's Three E's and a P: Energy, Edge, Execution and PASSION.

As you look to change with the times: remember to keep the passion that sets you apart from your competition.
