Taco Bell Buys Liberty Bell?

In 1996, an ad appeared in the New York Times saying that Taco Bell had bought the Liberty Bell and it would now be referred to as the Taco Liberty Bell.
Much broo-ha-ha ensued only to have Taco Bell admit that it was an April Fool's joke!
Harm done? None. Taco Bell's sales increased $500,000 on the day the ad came out and was up $600,000 the following day.
