Teamwork: We Can’t Do It Alone

hamsters.jpg

I found this picture as part of a series of moments frozen in time at Novak's blog. It makes me wonder if this was a gesture of food or love or showing off? It is precious, nonetheless.

It Takes Two, Baby, You'll Never Walk Alone, One is the Loneliest Number, all great songs from our youth that remind us we need each other to complete tasks, to move forward, and to fully enjoy the moment.

Take this story of two guys who needed each other:

Nothing like teamwork. Two men in Wisconsin were arrested for operating the same vehicle while intoxicated. Harvey J. Miller, 43, who has no legs, was steering the 1985 Chevrolet truck from the driver's seat while Edwin H. Marzinske, 55, operated the brake and gas pedals. Police pulled them over and Miller admitted he was too drunk to drive but argued he wasn't operating the vehicle because he couldn't push the pedals. Miller was issued a citation for a third drunk driving offense, while Marzinske was cited for a second. Both men were also cited for operating after revocation.

Ah, teamwork at its best.

When I was on a sales team, selling franchise locations, we were all sent to a weekend boot camp with teamwork exercises. You know the drill: working together on the ropes course and over the 20 foot wall.

We all walked away with a sense of team and lots of bruises and one broken finger but then we went back to our offices and competed like the dickens against each other to see who could sell the most stores. I came in second, dang it.

Anyway, teamwork has its place and I thought this picture was cute.
