That really is the primary consideration, yet it is rarely discussed. Blogs aren't magical. If your primary audience isn't already on-line, using the Internet to make purchases or qualify their buying of the goods you offer, having a blog won't change that.
Blogs are part of a web and marketing strategy. And like any tactic or strategy, just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Follow your primary customers and market to them where they look and qualify the goods you offer.
