What Does It Mean To Be A Good Company?

BlogPicture

"They're a good company." That's what I overheard one man saying to another. "They suck, if you ask me." The other replied.

Who's right?

I'm not sure what it means to be a good company. Maybe it's a point in time title. If you end up failing, were you ever good?

Many companies mistake being good with the unconscious incompetence of being lucky.

It's like a bad dream you can't awake from – a triad of disaster grows when companies loose focus on their customers, fall in love with their existing products and services, and position their offering as a commodity. Maybe that's how you go from good to bad.

What do you think it means to be a good company? Can good companies go bad or where they bad all along and we just didn't notice it?

    Can good companies go bad?

You bet – any company – even the best-performing companies can take their eye off the ball.
