Who do you look to when you are seeking advice about financial planning? Insurance? Retirement?

According to a comprehensive survey by MetLife, people in the United States are looking to their employers to provide this kind of advice. The MetLife Study of Employment Benefit Trends notes a substantial spike in the number of employees anticipating their employer will help them plan for the future and will help with health and retirement benefits.

If you are an employer, the survey reveals a fundamental disconnect between you and your employees. Employees rank "company culture" fifth on their ranking of factors leading to employee loyalty while employers believe it is the third most important consideration. Employees rank salary and health benefits number one and number two by less than a six percent margin (I could not find the margin of error for the survey). Retirement benefits was third according to employees. Finally, 44% of the employees surveyed stated that they would be interested in financial advice of all types to be provided at the workplace.
