Will Your Job Still be a Career Choice in 20 Years?
Filed in archive by Deborah Brown on August 17, 2006

Jobs that are already switching gears due to technology; cashiers, photo developers, CD sales people and encyclopedia
writers will be replaced with automated alternatives. Oil wildcatters will be replaced with purveyors of manure and hydrogen as potential energy sources in the future. For most of us, this evolution is no surprise, but wait until you see what new careers are on the horizon.Interested in being a travel guide? How about in outer space? Seriously - pleasure trips to the great beyond are scheduled to begin as early as 2008 with a price tag starting at $200,000 - for the spouse who has everything - how about that as a gift?
Other career opportunities include:
- Hydrogen fuel station manager
- Gene screener
- Dirigible pilot
- Drowned city specialist
Oh, and my favorite - looking for a population whose rights must be protected? Animals! Yep, animal guardian - legal representation for pets is a new career path.
Check all ten of the careers that Forbes envisions.
