After answering the customer's most immediate question, this would be the time to share information on any specials you are currently running or a new inventory line you are carrying. It could sound something like this:
"You are calling at a great time because this week we are running a special on widgets. Buy one and the second is half off."
OR
"Have you seen our current ads? We just got in a new line of widgets. I think you'll like them."
OR
"Did you know, we have the largest selection of widgets in the area?"
Think of a statement you can make that is quick, to the point, of interest to the caller and will set you apart from the competition.
How do you know what the competition is doing?
CALL THEM!
Pick up the phone and call several of your competitors as if you were a potential customer. Notice:
• How quickly they answer the phone
• Their greeting
• Do they answer your question in an easy to understand manner
• Are they pleasant
• Do they offer "something extra"
• Do they make you feel rushed
Find that special niche that you can own and start using it on the phone with your callers!
