Writing for the Reader - Romance Style
I love to read. Business books, mysteries, comedies and romance novels. Sometimes there is nothing better than a feel good (pun intended), happy ending.

In a recent post by Jim Tobin, he talks about his sister-in-law's foray into the romance writing industry. As a first time novelist she took time to truly understand her specific audience and then focused her marketing efforts to reach them.

As a proponent of "writing with the reader in mind" I love how Jim talks about "marketing with the reader in mind." Check out Life is Marketing: romancing the audience for his explanation around these great tips:

1. Make a connection
2. Talk and listen
3. Break down your audience
4. Look for unique opportunities

Question. More and more first time authors are skipping the agent, publisher steps and moving right to the e-book method. Is this the way to go or should you brave the world of rejection slips in hopes of a connection with a publisher?
